I am artist of texture and color. I enjoy working with textiles, mixed media and the graphic arts. I am an avid cottage gardener with a love for pass along plants and big fluffy pink peonies and pink roses. Many of my tangible creations reflect my love of the garden and all its wonderful colors. I am not one who will settle for neutral colors as they bore me. I have been selling my creations online since 2002 beginning as a hobby and 10 years later my art is my full time passion.

Rushing of the Bloggerette Sorority

A new sorority has been born, and June 25th is "rushing" day~I am pleased to part of this wonderful group.

We were all instructed to take this photo below
and create something with it

And since one of the requirements is that I be in the picture with my creation--here I am (yikes)

Usually with these challenges, I try to do something with textile art, which is my most loved media. But thought I would play with some mixed media art using vintage elements

 Victorian Secrets Box
Constructed with an old greeting card box, I covered with vintage wall papers. I overlaid the image and trimmed it with vintage hand made tatting

Lots of vintage buttons, rhinestones, bouquet brooch, even a little string of pearls and a key to unlock the secrets saved
a soft handmade doily graces the corner with a gold foil lining.

I hope you enjoyed, I had fun stepping outside the box--literally!

Hey Debbi!.. I still think fondly almost daily of our good time at the retreat. :) You can just send that wonderful box you created right on to me...It's beautiful.

Bunny was so sweet to help me. I knew what I wanted to do but I don't have photoshop or any other program like that (can you suggest one? that's easy?). I gave her the photos and she added me in there, then I embellished and framed it. I loved the thought behind it.

Thanks for stopping by and your sweet comment. I have to ask, how do I place my blog link on the list at our Etsy Cottage Blog?

Thank you so much and see you soon.

Well Debbi, it doesn't surprise me one bit that you would come up with this delightful creation.

I really wanted to join the "rush" but..it's out of my league. I just don't have that kind of talent...at one time perhaps..but no more. I don't craft...so I am just hopping around checking on others. Your's is just beautiful!

Beautiful Debbi ! Now listen, don't bother to send it to Lynne, she really has enough pretties anyway.
Just bring it to the next SLS retreat and I'll handle it from there..... (())

What a darling box. And I love those buttons! I have my mother-in-law's button box. It's so much fun to stir those buttons around wondering and sometimes remembering the outfits they came from.
Have a wonderful weekend!
